They are best known for winning the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, becoming the first Scottish drag queen and the second plus-size contestant to win in the franchise. Since 2014, he has been a professional drag performer in Glasgow. In an interview with Metro, Chaney explained that his drag surname, “Chaney,” was inspired by Lon Chaney, the prolific silent movie star of the 1920s. He mentioned, “He was known as the man of a thousand faces, and I’m known as the queen of a thousand faces because I’m skilled in impersonation, silly voices, and general buffoonery.”
In December 2020, he was announced as one of the twelve contestants on the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. On March 18, 2021, Chaney was crowned the winner of the series, making history as the first Scottish contestant and the first plus-size winner of a Drag Race season hosted by RuPaul (the very first winner was Natalia Pliacam from Drag Race Thailand Season 1). As part of his victory, he received an online television series titled Tartan Around, which premiered in 2022.
The Guardian interviewed and photographed Chaney in March 2021 alongside fellow RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalists Tayce, Bimini Bon Boulash, and Ellie Diamond. Later, they were also featured in British Vogue. In July 2021, he embarked on a UK tour with A’Whora, Bimini Bon Boulash, and Tayce for the United Kingdolls Tour, which was organized by the promoter Klub Kids. In February 2022, Chaney participated in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK: The Official Tour, performing with the entire cast of the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. This tour was in association with World of Wonder and the promoter Voss Events.
